Although Silverlight 2.0 is yet a few hours away, some information about the API for WebService consumption are already available:

This is important stuff, because Silverlight is really all about consuming data and services in a rich way within the browser.

I just setup a little website for Silverglobe:

The sources are for download, but it is still based on SL 1.1 Alpha. I hope I get a chance to move it to 2.0 later this day. MIX08 keynote starts in 2 hours. Let's wait and see :)

RestChess in WCF

Just listened to a great talk about restfull Webservices in WCF by some guys from myspace.com here at MIX'08.
REST is not new, we've been doing basically the same thing for years, issuing HTTP request and sending back XML or other data, though the semantics are a little bit cleaner.
What I really found interesting is where they plugged in the necessary extensions into WCF in order to make it work well, e.g. a custom HttpModule to map extensions and adding a custom channel to support Hi/Lo REST support and authentication.
I hadn't heard of oauth yet, sounds interesting. I'll definetly download the source and play around with it.

Silverlight - it's more than about RIAs

If you've seen Ray Ozzie's Keynote, it's pretty clear that the vision for Silverlight goes somewhere beyond the RIAs that we know today.
On the OSLO webpage Robert Wahbe says:
Moving forward we will continue to invest in the SOA platform, expanding our investment on the client with technologies such as Microsoft Silverlight and in the cloud with technologies such as BizTalk Services.
One of the last talks I saw at MIX08 was from Justin Smith about the Internet Service. In the context of what Ray Ozzie said that's really interesting stuff.
